This discussion is becoming more of a (religious) debate on what is mentioned in the Quran and what isn't...this was really not my intention...

I have already professed my ignorance about islamic practices and rituals...

As is clearly evident, there can be many ways to interpret holy books of any religion and nobody can say that his or her version is definitive...

I must say that I agree with ramadan. The quran does not mention any kind of practice to control or enslave djinns. However, djinns may be controlled through black magic, which has been forbidden by god and is a great sin for any muslim or non-muslim to practice.

Ramadan - obviously I would not want to get into arguments with a person following a particular religion or sect... As I consider myself to be well-versed with all aspects of my religion i.e., hinduism, similarly I assume that others would also have a better knowledge about their own religions than me... That is the reason I tried to state as clearly as possible that all this I have heard of from others and is not my personal experience or knowledge.

That said, I also believe that there are several interpretations about religious books (of any religion) and people who claim to have the last word are only deluding themselves. For example, here is what one pakistani dude has to say (reproduced verbatim from another website)

"Every letter/word/sentence of ALLAH is protected by invisible yet powerful beings called Moakils. Once you recite some ayat, surah many times a day regularly for a certain period of time, the moakils appear (invisibly) and start to tease. If the Wazifa is recommended by someone who has done this wazifa many times or is any "amil" of that wazifa, then he will control the moakils at the end of the wazifa, so no problems in that. Otherwise, it increases problems."

This dude is talking about ayat, surah etc which, if I am not mistaken, are sections and chapters of the Koran (Quran) and the beings that he has mentioned also seem to be like some kind of angels. The procedure also sounds suspiciously similar to the one in my narrative.

So as far as I am concerned, there seem to be as many opinions as there are people talking about the topic and nothing is certain.

ramadan,

Thank you for the clarification, I am not Muslim, I have read about and studied about the Quran and did not remember anything concerning the 'how to' do this type or ritual being in it.

Discerninguser,

I hate to 'nit pick' but what you stated in your narrative was this... (quoted for no misunderstanding)

"My sister was married to a Muslim guy and his aunt was highly interested in mastering certain practices mentioned in the Koran, which if done correctly can allegedly give you a lot of powers.

Muslims believe in the concept of Jinns, which are powerful supernatural entities and there are good as well as bad jinns. There are Suras (chapters) in the Koran which outline the procedure for capturing and enslaving these jinns."

You did (as you just stated) however ask for verification...

"All this I have learned from my Muslim friends and I hope my other Muslim readers can verify what I have mentioned here."

However why would your Muslim friends tell you these rituals were in the Quran? I do thank you for sharing these tales with us, they are well written and intriguing... There are just some 'little things' that 'nag' at me. Please do not take that in a negative way...It's simply me being me.

Respectfully,

Rook

Im Muslim and first let me tell you there are no instructions in the Quran about enslaving a jinn. There is nothing of this whatsoever in the Quran. However there is a story of Prophet Solomon son of David who had authority over Jinns by God's permission. No ordinary person can command or enslave a Jinn save divine prophets of God and even then it does done by God's will. Also No Jinn can grant a person wealth or power. Prosperity and power rests with Almighty God alone he despenses it to whomever he pleases. Here are the verses from the Quran that speaks of Prophet Solomon's authority over Jinns.

27:17 And before solomon were marshalled his hosts,- of Jinns and men and birds, and they were all kept in order and ranks.

27:38 He said (to his own men): "Ye chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"

27:39 Said an 'Ifrit, of the Jinns: "I will bring it to thee before thou rise from thy council: indeed I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted."

27:40 Said one who had knowledge of the Book: "I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of an eye!" Then when (Solomon) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord!- to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free of all Needs, Supreme in Honour!"

34:12 And to solomon (We made) the Wind (obedient): Its early morning (stride) was a month's (journey), and its evening (stride) was a month's (journey); and We made a Font of molten brass to flow for him; and there were Jinns that worked in front of him, by the leave of his Lord, and if any of them turned aside from our command, We made him taste of the Penalty of the Blazing Fire

34:14 Then, when We decreed (solomon's) death, nothing showed them his death except a little worm of the earth, which kept (slowly) gnawing away at his staff: so when he fell down, the Jinns saw plainly that if they had known the unseen, they would not have tarried in the humiliating Penalty (of their Task).

I hope this isn't interperted as me pushing a religion since this thread spoke of Jinns and the Quran I wished to only clarify that in the quran it does not teach how to enslave jinns. It only speaks of Prophet Solomon and the powers God gave him over jinns. I think such notions of enslaving jinns are rooted in folktale from villages in Muslim countries which have no basis in scripture. ---peace

adsouza - thanks again for reading through all my accounts and the encouragement.

Ghosthunter9876 - agree with you... However it is man's intrinsic desire to play God, that differentiates him from other creatures... But there is a thin line between daring and stupidity.

Girlie - most of the muslim mystics who perform this ritual already lead a lifestyle which is conducive to this... That is my guess... Also this woman did not really understand what she was getting into... As they say half-knowledge is a dangerous thing to have.

Mannerizms - if yo think this account is chilling, do read my other narratives... They are much more scary... I think this is the tamest of my stories.

Rustum - Salaam and thanks for the info... I have a question... Is this procedure mentioned in the Koran? It falls more in the realm of black magic... How come the holy book outlines this procedure? Or is it mentioned somewhere else?

Rook - thanks for the compliment... In my narrative, I have clearly stated that the info that I have provided about this procedure is what I have learned from my Muslim friends and I have asked for it to be verified by other Muslim readers... I was around 15 when I heard about this account from my brother-in-law and have tried to recreate the incidents as I remember it... As I clarified, I am not in touch with them now, so had no means of clarifying things when I wrote my narrative for this website.

I do not know which chapters outline this procedure in the holy book and even if it is a part of the Koran... That is why I put the disclaimer...

There are several stories (some in this website itself) about holy Muslim men having Jinns as their slaves... Which are used for the benefit of mankind... I cannot imagine anybody so spiritual following practices which are condemned in the Koran.

As per Wikipedia, "Koran" is a transliteration of "Quran" and that is the reason I have spelled it that way. In India, it is spelled both ways, but more commonly as Koran.

discerninguser,

A very well written and chilling account indeed and I hate to be the one who 'casts a disparaging remark' but could you please tell me just which chapters in the Quran (Koran as you spell it) you are referencing when you say this...

"There are Suras (chapters) in the Koran which outline the procedure for capturing and enslaving these jinns."

I agree that any ritual designed to 'enslave' anyone...spirit, jinn or any 'physical being' is wrong and there can be dire consequences when attempting to do so. I do question that there are instructions for doing so in a Holy Book, one that denounces this type of practice. So could you please direct me to the chapters you refer to so that I am no longer confused concerning this issue. Thanks.

Respectfully,

Rook

Salam. This ritual is called 'Chilla' and is very dangerous. There are some videos on youtube regarding this. The ritual is haram as it's sole purpose is to interfere with the djinn and the unseen. Only stupid people take part in such practices and i'm not surprised at what happened to that silly woman who attempted to perform it, however I cannot help but feel sorry for her and suggest we all say a prayer for the benefit of her soul ameen.

I do not think she was in her right mind ever again, your account did send chills down my spine! I would say NEVER EVER attempt that yourself, at least this way you do not need to learn the hard way such as she had.

Blessed Be ❤

With long the things you have to do to keep it control, I wouldn't think it would be much of a gain, if you can't really enjoy it or risk being killed. No, I wouldn't do it AT ALL!

There are somethings which are best left alone some powers that only God has the power to control and destroy if need be for such action.

Well, all I can say is if you cannot control the outcome, it is better to stay away from the encounter.

Again, a very well written account!
