Ooooh! That's a good one, Sam! For those going wth!? - that is the correct scientific name for the titin protein molecule and it has (ta-da-da-da!) 189, 819 characters! They say it takes 3 - 5 HOURS to say properly 😲. And, nope I did not know that until after googling. And nope, I'm not going to even try and wrap my tongue around it...

you know what's even worse? Look up the chemical name for titin. Has over 1000 letters in its name. Look it up

As an over-the-top bonus, here's one very, very long name mentioned by Paul Dickson in What's in a Name? (Merriam-Webster, 1996, out of print). In his chapter on "Record-Breaking Names," Dickson mentions a man found on the island of Vanua Levu in 1967 who has or had 120 letters in his name: Tuimidrenicagitokalauenatobakonatewaenanonaskoktamanakisomosomome-lakivolainaivolanikawabulasokomailesutalesigadua.

Hello, everyone!
I wish I could introduce you all to my Mom. She was really something. I think you sort of need to know this bit about her, in order to understand why I took her so seriously. Neither my mother or I are 'screamers', and like her I stand my ground even when threatened. (We don't get 'stupid' about it, as in going to a knife fight with a spoon. But, we don't scare easily). I had watched her face great emotional and physical pain with hardly a whimper, so when she said she ran screaming from the room - well I had the feeling I was getting a toned down version of the truth. Even in the telling me what she did, I could see even remembering scared her some, so I never pressed for more. Besides, she was Mama, and if Mama said No, if you were smart you listened. Because there was always a reason.

Good morning Ladies- First off Val, I'm glad I could have some assistance in the title. I was telling Jennifer about me mentioning something about our "gas escaping ghost" and the titles that were mentioned. We laughed and giggled for an hour until our stomachs hurt.

Secondly, I was fortunate enough not to have one of these games growing up. However, my oldest daughter and some friends made one themselves and played with it in our home when she was in junior high. I do remember that during that time things suddenly got EXTREMLY stressful. Relationships were strained and stretched. It seemed there was a dark cloud just setting over our house. I can not be sure if the home made board had anything to do with it. I only found out about that board a couple months ago. And I delivered quite the reprimand, even to a 32 year old.

Oh, that must have been terrifying to witness for you mother. SO glad something did not hang around for your parents.

hahah I needed the laugh because yesterday at work was widely annoying and this was the only thing that made me smile until 5:30 😆

When I was a very young teen, my then aunt gave to my sister and me several board games, among them a Ouija board. Our mom flipped completely out when she saw it. I don't think it spent the night in our house, it was gotten rid of that quickly. Mom never said why she was so passionate about it, just never, ever was a Ouija board going to be in her home.

I loved reading it... But Ouija... A complete no-no...i never thought Ouija can be this scary.

Oh my goodness. Ouj that hurts. I think, when we were kids one of our friends brought over a oujia board once and we never saw it again! I don't recall seeing the kid again either, come to think of it. Your mother's story is a cautionary tale.

elnora, I'd love to hear you explaining the why you're laughing to him. I can just hear you gasping out, "I-t's the Ouija, w-won't ya's fff-ault!" And the boss saying, "Sure it is, Sure it is. You go home and rest. Maybe see a doctor." 😜

notjust - I sometimes wonder if there's a special guardian (or maybe some paranormal rule, if there are ANY) that protects very small children in cases like this. Maybe the spirits stand back and say, "Aww, isn't that cute?" With older ones, perhaps they think, "Ok, now they're being stupid - muhahaha. Get 'em!"

Revajane, I don't know if something happened to you or not. I tend to lean towards if something had you'd remember. But then, it could be something mom said when she found out really stuck with you deep down.

I remember "playing" Ouija once when I was 11 with my bestie and I made up the whole thing. I made it move and said it was a 6 years old boy named Charlie. She should have known since I used to name everything Charlie. And I am so thankful nothing happened nor did we really invite anything. Thinking back I could kick myself but as a kid I didn't think anything of it. Never again...

My mom had a ouija horror story as well, made me never want to touch one. I guess that's why parents tell their kids these things, to keep us from making their mistakes.

LOL ifi, my nic gives lots headaches 😉 I ran a chatroom for 10 years or so and I think the funniest typo for my nic was 'Veal'. So, yep, 'balk' flies with me.
I'm blaming the title on Wish-Not because I wrote this one up right after making up goofy titles for his flatulent ghostie comment.

I know we played with one as a young kid but mom found out and we never had one in the house again. I'm guessing something must have happened when we had one because I won't let one in my home and have passed that on to my kids because they won't let one into their home either.

I was going to slap the author once I saw the title but then I saw it was balk and I let it slide 😉.

Yeah that alone would scare the crap out of me too; I do not blame her whatsoever. They're really lucky nothing too crazy after the board flew happened. It's a shame it was sold as a game because it isn't and it is messing with things people don't understand.
