Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with non-believers?

'Tis the silly season and this year, possibly thanks to YGS, I decided to come out of the closet and be more open about my spiritual side with everyone. This includes some real hardcore non-believers. I'm talking the kinds of people who talk about ghosts constantly, no joke they talk about not believing in them, constantly! Usually I just twiddle my thumbs but this year I decided to be honest. While I expected snidey remarks and taunts I didn't expect the plethora of agro I'm now receiving and it's got me quite down.

Please feel free to share your non-believer tales of woe and how you deal with them.

Hi Tweed,
I am soaking the stories up like I'm a sponge at the moment and the comments. You get the whole picture if you read all the comments 😊 Finding this site has been a gift in itself and I find that the comments are what interest me most. It's teaching me things and confirming beliefs.

I certainly agree that messages from guardians/ghosts, etc, are always a puzzle to be solved. My mother always told me that spirit has no concept of time as we know it, so they may convey a message that's not relevant for many years. I totally agree with your Mum that crazy people don't know they are crazy. Top lady for sure!

I look forward to reading more stories and comments on YGS and thank you for taking the time to reply to my comments. Much appreciated 😊

Earthangel, thank for your kind words and interest. Wow you must have read many comments in 'followed by knocking' to understand the severed head dream. I know that story has a lot of off topic banter to wade through lol.
I'm grateful my experiences have spoken to you.

It's great your friend found a way to integrate her guardian into her life. Being that he's a Native American he's probably far more relaxed around the idea of showing himself to her haha, not that it made it any easier on her!

I feel finding stuff out is dependent upon us as individuals to decipher the clues. Certainly communicating with ghosts is cryptic at best for endless variable reasons. My guardian, with his historic speech/phrases/words for example, is a total Rubik's Cube to solve. Add to this all ghosts have their own favoured ways of communicating, and things soon get confusing 😆
Recently I learned some surprising things about a 'dancer' ghost whom I first encountered when I was 10. I'm currently doing some research regarding her. It just goes to show it can potentially take years to get to the crux of some matters. Likewise your head dream may become clear for you in time.😊

I can relate to the pressures of a more socially acceptable mindset. During my nihilist phase, which was really a fear of going crackers, Mum told me: "Crazy people don't know they're crazy." Them's wise words. I'm glad you're enjoying YGS. There's some way cool people here who make the place what it is. 😊 It's an invaluable resource of beliefs and ideas. As well as a great support network.

Hi Tweed, I'm fairly new to the site, but have submitted a couple of stories that have been published, Ouiija - Not a Toy and Aunty's House, which you kindly commented on. I had read quite a few submissions prior to registering and submitting myself, but have just read six of your stories and I had to comment, so I hope you do see this, as I see the last comment on this story was two weeks ago. Anyhow, I wanted to say how very impressed I am with your writing style. You have kept me completely wrapped and totally fascinated. Your personality definitely shows through in your writing! I have experienced many similar events to you and your comments on your own and others stories convey that you have beliefs very like mine, so it is very refreshing for me, as I don't come across many people who are like me in my day to day life. In fact, this site was a serendipitus find!

You mention in this story that your guardian showed up in your car. Back when I first moved to South Wales, I became friends with another girl I had met through my work. She kindly offered me a lift to and from work, as she lived a short distance from me. She was a very troubled young lady and as has happened many times in my life, she saw me as a trustworthy person to confess her concerns too. She thought she was going bonkers, was seeing a person, in fact she described him as American Indian in appearance. It was troubling her deeply and the last straw was him appearing in the passenger seat of her car whilst driving! She nearly crashed. Long story short, I told her I believed he was her spirit guide and he was here to help. She was clearly going through a tough time, even without this misunderstood intrusion. So it was great when she finally understood and accepted him. Her life improved greatly after that.

Also, the severed head thing. I have also had a dream of a severed head. I was about 21 at the time. I didn't have any children then. My dream was vivid, in fact I have total recall of it still. I was on a beach, deserted except for me and two young boys, maybe two years apart. It seemed to be a winters day, overcast, with that weird unreal muted light, with a gentle breeze, that was oddly warm. I was reading a book, propped against some rocks, the boys were digging in the sand several feet in front of me. The boys suddenly shout "Mummy" and I look up. They are digging franticly, then start to pull something from the sand. As they pull it out, I realise it is a human head and as the sand drains from it's open mouth, the word "remember" comes from it. Then I wake up. That's it! I have no idea what it meant, but I've never forgotten it.

With similar experiences happening to many people, I would love to know the true meaning. There must be one, maybe we aren't to know in this life?

Hope I don't come across like a bit of a stalker 😆 that's the last thing I want. I simply wanted to show my appreciation and relay the information above. Many people I know, would want me medicated for my beliefs, so I don't get to speak about my experiences much these days.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful stories 😊

Agreed, there definitely seems to be a link between being in a zone and receiving messages from ghosties etc. The headphone detail is intriguing, sort of reminded me of having the ears covered by a pillow.
There's a few stories on here where people have described a disembodied voice whilst listening to music through headphones. This could also be caused by audio matrixing some of the time. But no doubt some are caused by a ghost.
In my headphone moment there were no sounds at the moment I heard the voice. Being focused seems to be the link.😊

WhiteWolf, I hope Red is feeling better soon.
Please give her a big hug from everyone here, we'll be thinking of her. ❤

Tweed--It's very interesting that you heard the voice through your headphones. Once again it really seems that having the brain focused completely on something else is the most opportune time for spirits (or what have you) to make contact.

Much like the mind upon awakening, reading or listening to music, the creating of music puts the mind into a similar place. I know the feeling of missing what a spirit is conveying-- you really want to know if what they said has some relevance to you!

Sort of update: Earlier today I had an odd 'voice' moment which may have been inspired by a thread of Manafon's from last week on one of his older stories.

I had headphones on and was arranging music on a digital piano (hence headphones). Playing a few bars, then leaning forward to jot stuff down. Was doing this for around an hour. Then I put my writing pad on my knee. As soon as I shifted into this position I heard a voice. Sounded just like my guardian. He hasn't talked to me in the physical realm since I was a youngster. Since then he speaks through dreams, meditation, astral.
Today I heard him through my 'good ear', not my defective ear I used to hear him through. Today it was like he 'spoke' through the headphones. There's a microphone plugged in and set up next to me, I was facing away from this while jotting stuff down. I wonder if he spoke into the microphone.

Unfortunately I was on a roll and ignored him! For a few days I've had 'shifting' noises through the headphones consistent with someone rubbing the mic. Maybe to test if I'd hear something? His voice was a bit static. Not sure what he said, maybe 'cause I was concentrating.

The timing of this, with Manafon's thread, makes me think he read over my shoulder that day.
If it happens again, I'll be prepared and pay better attention!

(hmm just noticed the temperature suddenly drop around me while previewing this comment. It would seem this ghostie lurks on YGS, not bad for someone from the 1900's!😆)

Yo Biblio!

A few of us have been concerned at recent events. In particular one statement made to you around a week ago. Yes, *that one*.
Unfortunately I didn't 'click' as to what this potentially meant until after I'd posted a peace keeping statement. Then the mods clamped down to keep things on topic, rightfully so. Unfortunately for me, and a few others, this meant we had no means of telling you what we ALL DESPERATELY wanted to which was essentially:
'We were just as confused/shocked about it as you probably were.'
This isn't about taking sides or any of that nonsense. I don't dislike anyone on here at all. Even still, I feel this needed to be said.

Mods: Please don't delete this, I have no means of contacting Biblio other than this site. I shan't comment further on the matter. But I STRONGLY feel (instincts kicking in, paranormal radar pinging like crazy) that this NEEDS to be clarified.
Thank you.

Tweed,

That is actually very interesting to say the least and would explain a lot for many people, I remember when I was about 21 some of my friends along with myself were in a graveyard at night just walking about and a guy wearing all dark clothes but a bright pink beanie hat shouted "HEY" and started approaching us, we all ran out the gates the guy never came out so who knews.

I am always quite oblivious to what's going around me when I'm outside so wouldn't notice either way lol.

Lexi and Dreamer,

Re: seeing ghosts. I'm just posting this here so it doesn't distract from the current story.
I feel everyone has seen a ghost or two without knowing they have. Because you can't always tell. Bear with me!
My Mum has been seeing ghosts in her area for years but she didn't know they were ghosts at first. These ghosts are out in public, but no one knows their ghosts except my Mum who clocked them 'cause she's savvy!
I did a little stake out over a few days a couple years ago to see what she was talking about, and it was boring as hell, SO boring, but I finally saw someone disappear into thin air and no one bloody noticed!
Think about this: In public most people are too per-occupied on their social media and electronic devices to notice strange things happening around them and ghosts can slip by unnoticed. You can tell everyone sees these ghosts because they step around them, or hold doors open for them etc. The ghosts interact just as normally as you or I would. You would never know they were ghosts. The only strange thing is they disappear either behind objects, or further up the path. Again, no one bloody notices!
Over the last couple of years I've made a thing to 'stake out' while I'm at Mum's and I've seen a few odd things. Only once did a member of the public exclaim when a man with a dog disappeared. I've got to say that staking out to see ghost activity is the most boring thing in the world so I haven't put much time into it. (a couple hours a day for five days the first time lead me to see 2 odd things)
I don't know if it's Mum's area, something in the atmosphere perhaps that makes this possible. But it reminded me of something a paranormal researcher from Mum's area said once. He said he felt that everyone had seen a ghost without knowing it. His theory was that you could pass by a ghost in the street and never know. I guess this is what he was talking about.

I've half typed up this bizarreness for YGS and will submit it at some stage. I just need to cross reference a few things with Mum.

Anyway it's food for thought!

Tweed, I think our words don't do it justice. We use our best descriptors. But the experience of it is different for everyone. And everyone has their own words/cultural background to try to convey it. That is why I love this site, for the place to share as many of these as possible. This helps us understand it better.

I need to pull out my journal, too... 😁

Nah, I don't keep a journal about this guy. But I'm going to start, actually that's a great idea!
I started a journal on another matter which I'm just about to submit coincidentally. Got inspired to keep a journal about that thanks to this site.
I know what you mean about getting things from another place. I feel like a scribe at times. I don't understand it but I feel it on some level and just go with it. My opinion is it's 50/50 our own intelligence/interpretation and something 'other'. Just don't know what the 'other' is, universal vibrations perhaps, vibrations from the spirit realm? Man that sounds pretentious lol. Well whatever it is it's cool.

Tweed, your positive karma points thing has me sitting here chuckling with my morning coffee. Thank you. The power balancing thing came to me as I was responding to you. I kind of knew it would resonate with you. I often 'get' things that I know come from someplace larger than me. I think you do, too. I am interested to hear as you continue exploring him. I am so glad the balancing word fit and helped you understand what was different. Did you say you kept a journal? I have been terribly negligent about that. Just nudged myself. 😊

Ha, cool! The power is balancing, that's exactly what it is! I knew something felt different/better but couldn't put my finger on it. Thanks Hecate you have enlightened me!

(The stupid votey thing is telling me to 'vote for someone else' because I must have spammed your karma points or something. Oh well, sending positive thoughts to you anyway.)

Update: This happened about a week ago and not much since then but it felt like a big step.

I was walking back from the kitchen to the studio, so he knew I was returning soon after leaving the room. When I neared the studio doorway, which was open, I could see him standing over the piano. I think he was reading my notes and whatnot. I stopped short as soon as I saw him and didn't 'retreat back' as I have done normally. Instead this time I remained in the spot where I glimpsed him. I said: "Hey" (as in "hi" not as in "hey, get out") and he stopped what he was doing and kind of 'froze' like he didn't know what to do next. Then I took a couple slow steps forward, keeping my eyes on him, but he became like a mirage. As my perspective changed, from a different angle entering the studio he became less visible until he disappeared completely.
I set my tea down (which I was holding) and stood in the spot in front of where I guessed he was still standing and looked up to where I guessed his eye level would be. I put a hand out to see if there was any coldness, there wasn't. I turned to sit at the piano and as I did this he touched the back of my hand. So I felt the area in this direction and it was cold. He had moved a couple steps away from where I first saw him.
It's pretty minor but for me this is big because it's the first time I've approached him like this. To get an actual acknowledgement back is really something.

Probably rambling now, been asleep all day with a bug that's going around, urgh.

Hi Tweed and Sam, memory is a fickle thing. On average, we do not remember much before 3 or 4 years of age, as many neurons in the brain are still getting their insulation (myelin sheath). They do not fire completely consistently, even until we are 6 and 7. But... Some people do experience memory for earlier than that. There is no fixed rule.

Tweed, I am glad you have been able to set good boundaries with this energy. You have investigated a lot. Thanks for your sharing here! It is fun to hear your perspectives.
Tweed (36 stories) (2529 posts)

Sam I think on average this is correct.

However there are a bunch of us out there who have memories of earlier years. My memory goes back to about 1 and a half. Going by details of the decor from a few homes my parents frequented and later confirmed when I asked about it years later.
I've always been a stickler for years and dates, maybe there's a link.
I used the memory of mum's hair colour to pinpoint the date of this memory.

A friend of mine has dated her earliest memories from just a few months old. Now *that* is astonishing! She confirmed this in adulthood with her parents based on a sports event that was happening on the date of one of her early memories. Her parents were dumbfounded, so was I!

Winipu, a few years ago we had a 'falling out' because he was taking over my dreams again. This happened in about 2010, years after the dreams were few and far between. Anyhoo he started with the violent dreams again and I told him to get. Which he did, I still felt him around but he was very much in the background.
After a couple years we made peace in about 2012 and I found ways to set boundaries with him. Which he's respected ever since.
I agree with you that finding a new way to communicate with him is a good step forward. Every day I'm thinking of this or that, trying to come up with something that would fit.
I agree with you that there is a remorse there. I feel I helped him through something in 2012. He's been far more respectful since then.
Also I'm constantly aware that he sees the world through a 100 plus year filter. He's very open minded, as I feel he's gained wisdom from modern philosophies. I feel this is connected with him being on the other side for many many years. He's adaptable so I'm confident we can find a new means of communicating.
Thanks for your input too!

Hecate, I have wondered about past life history too. Things in dreams and in meditation have also lead me to believe this more over the years.
If he killed me I'm not so sure about, but it's possible. The reason I'm not clear on that is because the violence was differing. It was a language which, with time, I sort of deciphered. One violent act would mean one thing while another meant something different. I feel it was largely how he communicated his frustration at me and the damage I was doing by not following my heart to the paranormal world.
If it was the same violence every time I would be more inclined to feel the act was what he was conveying. But as it was different I had to dig a little deeper.
Thanks for your input, it's nice knowing there are others who are drawing similar conclusions to me.

Hello:
I agree with Faith wholeheartedly; that you should let him know that you do want to see him around so long as he doesn't take you by surprise and shock you. You could tell him to make some sort of noise (suggest what you are comfortable with hearing) to signal where he is.
You could also ask him to answer questions with specific sounds meaning yes, no, or a number.
If you don't mind seeing him or respectfully touching you, then could tell him that. Be specific about your boundaries and how you would like the interactions to play out. He might listen. You'll never know if you don't try.
I'm inclined to wonder; like Hecate, if this is a past life relationship. Perhaps he didn't cross over due to guilt, shame, and his fear of judgement. If this is the case, it sounds as if he may feel remorse for what took place and may be seeking redemption by looking out after you.
Kind Regards,
Lynev

It feels like you two have a long history together. I wonder if he murdered you in a past life and now watches out for you. I do not think those dreams are random. He may like to control, but he certainly considers your feelings. What a wonderful story. Thank you so much for sharing it so sensitively. What a 'life' partner you have! Lol

This is sort of "off", but I have my Pandora up listening to music. Anyway, when I got to the bottom section about him touching your arm while playing piano, "Any Other Name" by Thomas Newman started playing. I don't know, it just sort of added to the comforting feeling I got when I read that part. I hope you get to see him again, he sounds like he is a comfort to you and enjoys being around you. Glad you still feel him around you!

Thanks Faith, glad you enjoyed it!

I agree, he doesn't want to scare me.
Last night I woke up and could have sworn I saw him standing in our room on my side of the bed.
This morning I saw the light shift in a room which I think was him opening another curtain. I called out to him but the light resumed to normal, as if the curtain had been released. I went into that room but didn't see him.
Well it's promising I saw him in our room. But I think anything more will take one small step at a time.

Also have the impression the rub on my arm was, as well as calming, also a question. Like 'How comfortable are you really with me doing this?'
Another thing about him is he likes to be in control. I don't think he takes 'requests' lol.

Wow, this is a great story! I loved it. I can't imagine how any of this felt. I imagine I would have probably reacted in a similar fashion but cannot say for sure as I have not experienced it. Lol. But I wanted to say thanks for sharing with us and you are very good at writing and I felt I was there with you by the way you describe things. Very cool. I wonder if he is laying low because he feels he upset you? I know you told him sorry, but he seems to be very caring of you and I just have a feeling that he is just trying not to scare or upset you so he is just keeping back out of sight. I would tell him when you feel his presence that you don't want him to stay hidden. Up to you though. Please keep us updated if he comes around again. And I hope to see the story about the side of the house sometime soon;-)

You're both so right about needing a bit of the old confirmation at times. We believers are a sensitive bunch.

Yeah the side of the house thing I've typed up and half finished but I keep putting off thinking about it. I'll submit it eventually.

I agree with BJJ that "even believers appreciate a little confirmation". I know I do.

I will be looking for that next one about the side of the house.

I did my best to fix the paragraph thing. I hope I guessed more or less right on what was supposed to be together. If I mangled your story, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry also that I completely cracked up at you shoving the poor man. Actions and words, I did nearly the same thing a few months ago when I found a guy standing in my bedroom. Needless to say, my attempt to slap him senseless didn't work.
I love that your friend saw him. Even believers appreciate a little confirmation that we haven't gone bonkers now and then.
Maybe he's a spirit guide of some sort. If he's always been around, gives you a warning about unpleasant situations, and helped you untangle your feelings about the paranormal, a spirit guide kind of makes sense.
Interesting story, thanks for sharing.
