Tweed, a beautiful, amazing and wonderful experience. As always, so well written. Wow. Sorry, I'm a bit speechless about this experience, since it's just so wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Hi Tweed,
What an interesting account, we share much in common. I became a friend with nature in my earliest years. I have actually cried when on my usual walk, years ago, I found one of my favorite pine trees uprooted and laying on the ground. This tree was part of a forest, covering several acres, but noticeable for both it's size and beautiful shape. On that morning I had noticed several trees along the path had branches low enough that I had had to duck to pass, I remember thinking how odd as they were not this low yesterday. I was also aware of the wonderful evergreen scent seeming stronger than usual. Upon finding the tree down on the ground, my thoughts were, it's friends and peers were lowered in sadness. It had not rained and there was no noise, in fact, the silence was a reason among others that prompted these walks. As I strolled under these majestic pines, I began to think the lowered branches indicated respect for their fallen friend. I still think so.
There is so much in our World that we do not yet know.

Thanks everyone for you lovely comments. I always get emotional when I think about this. 😳

Augusta, haha the Lorax indeed. I love that you bonded with a tree growing up, that feels very wise. ❤

Manafon, interconnectedness is a great way to put it. The absence of what would be 'normal' sounds stands out when I think back on this. I guess subconsciously these subtle abnormalities hit a supernatural chord and put the receiver in 'the zone' so to speak. I mean I could've just as easily gone 'AAH, OPOSSUM ON MY BACK!' and run inside. 😆 Because that would be the logical knee jerk reaction. But none of that occurred to me. It was very groovy!

Roylynx, I'd not considered the history of LA or even America. But that makes sense. Yeah, the history of the land, what the tree knows. That's a very good point, thanks!

Senhora Tweed, if my grandmother was here she would say that trees are all spirits of the wise, and so they are intelligent in spiritual ways. Also, I have read some articles saying in big cities like LA, used to be holy grounds or burial place of some Northern Native American tribes. The land is indeed rich, but it is full of grudges from the spirits and the tribes' people that were there since the beginning of the history.

Blending the 2 reasons, this may just be some super natural event which happens naturally in such areas, yes, and I can agree with this and say that this indeed is mystic. Unless there are huge change on humidity and climate just in a few moments, I do not think any animal can have done such things. Or if anyone would say that it could be some sort on animal, I will have to ask them if you have mentioned that you guys were staying in a safari park...😆

Cheers from São Paulo

Tweed--So great to finally read your experience with the Jacaranda! When trees choose to interact with people, it is a very emotional thing. Your account brought up an aspect I hadn't considered before--that the tree bows in your case and mine made no creaking sound when extending forward.

Like you, I was profoundly affected by my experience with the spirit of a tree. It speaks of the interconnected nature of everything. You walk around for a few days after such a beautiful encounter in a kind of warm protective bubble knowing that the spirits of all things can interact and intuit each others innermost feelings through silence and perception. Groovy, groovy stuff. Thanks for sharing your incredible experience with the soul of a tree!

I feel that same rage, Tweed - here's to the Lorax ❤

I have never had any even similar experience but I did have a tree growing up that I just felt connected to...I'd climb as far up into it as I could go, perch there feeling the wind sway the branches and pour my heart out to it.
