My really scary doll
I certainly have missed my YGS family, as I have not posted in a while. Today I am sharing a story of the only doll I had since I was a child. I was a year old when my aunt bought me the doll for my birthday. It was 1-meter tall, short curly golden hair and had a red dress and white shoes. It was more my mum's favorite than mine. It gave me the creeps.
As most of you are familiar, if you have read my other posts, you would know the story of my mum and the trauma she suffered until she died. We tried everything and it was to no avail.
Now back to the doll. No matter where you stood in a room the doll would stare at you. It was so scary that I once asked my brother to tilt the dolls head toward the ground. I finally got around to disposing of this doll in 2020 during covid. My grandmother had an obsession with this doll, and she had dressed it in a sari when I got married. Now back to my fears.
There was once a holy person that came home to try and cure my mum. He tried and failed like the others. I was about 15 at the time. He said that there was a spirit present in our home and that it was sat in the doll. He also mentioned that it was a male spirit and because the doll was a female form, it chose to reside there. My dad wanted to throw it out, but my mum refused. The holy guy did all his rituals and went his way.
After hearing all of that I refused to go anywhere near the doll. It stood in a corner of our lounge for many years. When my mum passed away, I tried to get rid of it, but my dad did not want to. In 2020, during lockdown we had a lot of time on our hands, and I finally got rid of the doll.
I have never experienced anything out of the ordinary with the doll, only the fact that it was always staring no matter which angle I looked at it. A neighbor in the area picked it up and I do see the children play with it.
There was nothing paranormal which took place, I guess it was just the eeriness and the fact that someone mentioned something scary to us. I had so many stuffed animals, but none were scary. Only the doll.
Thank you for reading.

"I wonder what the doll would do if you and I stood in the room with it but on opposite sides of the room?"
I suppose each person would think/see the doll was staring at them. The real problem would be if she went crossed eyed!

I imagine the doll was kind of a giantess compared to little one year-old you and, perhaps, that would had been enough to make you feel wary of her.
As Valkricry has pointed out, there's a scientific explanation for this, one that you wouldn't have known nor understood at such young age.
I have experienced something similar to the part about the holy person. My Mother suffered of a chronical illness for many years and she tried all kinds of medications and remedies with not much success. One time she went to see a person who assure her he will cure her, but there was a catch, she would had to pay the full cost of the "treatment" at the beginning of the therapy.
Of course she said she wouldn't pay at once but would prefer to do it after every session and depending if it worked for her, to which the man said that with such attitude and lack of faith she was blocking herself to any chance of getting cured.
In my opinion, there are many charlatans praying on the pain and desperation of people and they don't mind to lie in order to make some easy money.
I'm glad to know that your little neighbours are enjoying and like the doll.
Thanks for sharing.
